Fighting wrinkles
with Botox

✔ Significantly fewer wrinkles

✔ Younger appearance

✔ More self-confidence

With advancing aging of the skin and life experience, facial expression lines in particular deepen significantly. Botulinum toxin (“Botox”) can be used to effectively smoothen forehead wrinkles, laugh lines or a frown line, among other things. In addition, there are other medical areas of application such as excessive perspiration or bruxism.

Highest competence for your skin

Why Botox treatment at DR. MEK?

For optimal results, very good anatomical knowledge and experience in injecting Botox is required. Otherwise, mistakes can be made, such as overdosing or weakening the wrong muscles. Especially in the face, the position of muscles, blood vessels and nerves is complicated. Therefore, you should only consider experienced specialists for Botox treatment.

As a doctor of dermatology specialised in aesthetic medicine, Dr Magdalena Erdmann-Keding has both, the necessary expertise and many years of experience with Botox treatment.

Everything you need to know about Botox treatment

Here you can find all the important information about treatments with Botox in our dermatological anti-aging practice in Berlin-Charlottenburg.

Botulinum toxin (Botox) is biotechnologically obtained from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It is injected into the muscles which leads to a (partial) immobilisation and relaxation of the muscles.

In the field of dermatology and aesthetic medicine, there are various cases in which a treatment with Botox can be useful, such as:

  • Wrinkle treatment or the smoothing of certain skin areas (e.g. frown lines, forehead wrinkles, eyebrows, crow’s feet, corners of the mouth, strawberry chin, bunny lines, gum smile, marionette lines as well as wrinkles on the nose, neck and décolleté).
  • Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating on the palms of the hands, soles of the feet or armpits).
  • Bruxism (teeth grinding)
  • Lip augmentation

First, we discuss with you how the use of Botox can help you in your case and what the treatment can and can’t do for you. After an analysis of the mimic muscles and the skin, the injection is administered.

The actual treatment itself only takes around 20 minutes and is relatively painless. If you wish, we can also administer a local anaesthetic beforehand. After the treatment, we apply a soothing cream. You can then apply make-up with sunscreen immediately afterwards.

At the beginning, an iodine strength test is carried out. This is followed by a photo documentation. We then apply a local anaesthetic which lasts for about 30 minutes. During the treatment, several punctures are made in the form of wheals. After the treatment, we apply a soothing cream over which make-up can be applied directly.

Botox does not take effect immediately after treatment, but the result is visible approx. 3 to 7 days afterwards, with the maximum being reached after about 14 days. The effect lasts for a total of 3 to 6 months depending on metabolism, muscular activity and intensity of sweating.

As a precautionary measure, you should avoid sports, facial massages, sauna, solarium, yoga etc. for the first 24 hours after the treatment.

In very rare cases, it is possible that the body has many antibodies against botulinum toxin or can form these antibodies very quickly. In this case, the botulinum toxin is rapidly degraded, so that the desired effect does not occur. Whether this is the case can, however, be checked in advance with the help of a simple blood sample taken by a laboratory.

The dosage is in internationally scaled units, which makes it possible to compare the amount injected. The amount used in your case depends greatly on the contractile force of the muscle in question.

The amount we use in our practice for wrinkle treatment is so low that it is basically impossible to overdose. In case of doubt, we act according to the principle “less is more”. If the effect is not strong enough for you after two weeks, it is possible to inject Botox again.

The price for treatment with Botox to combat wrinkles starts at €300.

  • 1 zone from €300
  • 2 zones from €400
  • 3 zones from €450

The exact cost depends on the amount of Botox injected and the use of other agents and medications, if any. For example, a combination with hyaluronic acid for wrinkle injection is also possible.

The price for a Botox treatment for bruxism starts at €500. The treatment for hyperhidrosis costs €600.
